Winter is upon us which brings cold days and even colder nights. With temperatures in the local area dropping to below zero it is really important to think of those without the luxury of warm homes and a place to sleep who may need our help to make it through these harsher months.

The Medway Street Angels are a charity based in Medway, Kent, that support individuals and families aged 19 to 70 who are either homeless or living in temporary accommodation. They help people from all walks of life, from ex-forces and runaways to those with mental illnesses or people wanting to escape domestic violence. The charity work with those in need to help build a solid foundation to move away from current circumstances and into a more stable life. For example, without a registered address you are unable to register with a local Dentist or GP or acquire essential materials such as a birth certificate. The Medway Street Angels rent a unit that is a base for those who require a fixed address to move forward with their lives. They also provide support and assist with various appointments and meetings, as well as being trained in First Aid, Food Hygiene and Drug Awareness. Their aim is to help those who need it get back on their feet.

The charity runs a Soup Kitchen on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Chatham offering a variety of hot foods as well as hot chocolate, tea and coffee to the homeless community. They also provide vital toiletries on a monthly basis and bring donated clothing to those who are in need of it.

We at SiteWizard heard about the great work that is being done by The Medway Street Angels through our SEO & PPC Team Leader Georgia, who organised a clothing collection for the charity. We can all admit to hoarding clothes we simply do not use or need, and it was surprising how many coats, hats, scarves, jumpers, jeans and more the team managed to bring in to donate.

The generosity of the local community has resulted in an influx of donations and therefore the charity is no longer accepting any more clothing at this moment in time but will be updating their website and Facebook page about further collections in the near future.

The charity has requested that instead people try and offer other small gestures to those sleeping rough or in need. You can also donate your time to the charity to aid them in their work this Winter.

We wanted to promote the great work that is being done by The Medway Street Angels and would kindly encourage anyone who is able to extend a helping hand this Winter. For more information about how you can help, donate or volunteer your time please visit the charity’s website or Facebook Page.
